Background

Our native apps team was approved to spend a quarter rebuilding their entire codebase to allow for greater team velocity and innovation. How might we use that opportunity to modernize the UI and launch of a raft of new features we had waiting in the wings?

Problems

Key screens experiences and features would need to be redesigned to match or exceed mobile web. With no native app design system or pattern library velocity would be limited. We would need to solve dark mode for the first time as a company.

Solution

Build a native app design system with code parity testable on a mobile device that matches user's light/dark mode settings. Redesign key screens such as the car detail page. Test new animations and signature experiences.
